 WHAT IS AN ALPACA?

Alpacas are native to South America. They are members of the camelid family; cousins to the llama and the camel. They were domesticated thousands of years ago by Andean herdsmen for their soft fleece and tasty meat. Later the Incas raised alpaca breeding to an art. The majority of alpacas live in their native Andes Highlands in Peru, Chile and Bolivia, with a small number being exported to Britain, Europe, Australia and North America.

You can now enjoy these beautiful creatures by simply visiting one of the many farms that are springing up all around the U.S., some close to your own back yard, like ours.

We are located on 17 pastoral acres in north-west New Jersey, minutes from interstate 78. Our herd of 26 alpacas has six lush, green pastures to run, pronk, rest and feast on. Because of our location on the ridge of Marble Hill, near the convergence of the Delaware and Lehigh rivers, they also enjoy some of the best views in the Lehigh Valley.
